Government of India Aid to Phase
out Ozone Depleting Chemicals
BANGALORE: The Government of India is providing multilateral
funding to industries in all states for phasing out ozone
depleting substances (ODS). The industries using ODS and
established before July 1995 are eligible for the funding
which involves 100 per cent subsidy and other sops like
coverage of the incremental cost of operation.
At a workshop organised by the Ministry of Environment
and Forests and the Karnataka State Pollution Control
Board here on Thursday, director of the Ozone Cell, New
Delhi C. Vishwanath said the states were required to identify
the industries using ODS and service enterprises engaged
in this sector and make them register before July 19,
2001. The Cell will help the companies get cleaner technologies,
equipment and training for their personnel... |
